Oh sweet baby Ezra…this was one of my favorite newborn sessions to date. He did so well and I got the cutest poses of this sweet baby boy and his parents. I love capturing newborns, but it’s so fun when it’s mom and dad’s FIRST baby. Just so so special. Mom looked absolutely gorgeous! Why don’t I look that amazing after giving birth?! 🙂
Another very special blog post. My dear cousin Heidi got married this past February. She had asked me to shoot the wedding, but at the time I was still nursing my little guy, and he didn’t take bottles and so I couldn’t commit to it as I needed to drive up the night before to Indiana from Michigan, and couldn’t bring him with me. I told her I would still shoot as many photos as I could at the wedding for her as a gift, but to hire another photographer. I ended up getting a lot of shots, which was so much fun!
She got married at Amish Acres which is this beautiful historic barn – it was amazing for a wedding and reception. By far the most beautiful wedding I have ever been to. I loved seeing both Adam’s parents and Heidi’s parents gathering around them during the ceremony to pray over them. So beautiful. I loved so many details of their wedding.
It was so great seeing lots of family, watching my kids have fun on the dance floor (and my sister in law was the DJ for the night!) and capture some of Heidi’s big day. She is such an amazing woman, and I used to joke with her that if she didn’t meet a awesome guy soon, I was going to sign her up for the Bachelorette 😉 Thankfully Adam came into her life soon after, and they are such a beautiful couple. It was a perfect day in every way, and I couldn’t have been more honored to capture these moments for my dear cousin who I’ve always been close to since we were young. This was an extra special newborn session, my cousin Angela’s baby boy! They live in Grand Rapids, Michigan – which is a little over 2 hours from me so I packed up my studio, and headed to Grand Rapids for Colton’s session. It was my first time in awhile, shooting a natural light newborn session, and setting up my stuff in someone’s home, and I gotta say, it was nice to use natural light again. It was such a relaxed session as I took my time with Colton, while visiting with my dear cousin, and Tommee and their little girl McKenlee too.
I should take a minute to brag about Tommee’s amazing talents. He’s a Christian music writer, song artist, who is very talented and gifted. It was a great time visiting with Ang and her adorable family. Angela is one of those momma’s who looks so beautiful after having a baby. It was fun to get some lifestyle type shots for them, as I don’t get to do those often. McKenlee was so sweet, she was constantly checking in on baby Colton during the session, and we tried grabbing a couple shots of them together too. McKenlee is the sweetest thing, and cracks us up with her big ‘McKenlee open mouth smile”….so the whole family joined in for one of the shots 😉 Here’s some of my favorite newborn shots from Colton’s session.
It was so fun to meet the Clark family. Mom has been following my work for awhile and would always be so sweet and comment on my images often. I was excited when they came to my studio for a family session, and how cute are they all dressed in their Detroit Tigers apparel?! I love team spirit!
I love capturing weddings, and when Kim called me up and told me they already got married months ago, at the courthouse, but that she wanted to get back into her dress with some casual photos in her backyard, I thought, “Yes! Everyone deserves some wedding photos!” I was so thankful for this tiny little area of shade her yard had, as it was a super sunny day. These two have been together a long time, and it was fun to capture their love and devotion to one another. A small little celebration with their closest friends and family, it was perfect!
This family was so fun to meet and photograph. Mom has followed my work for some time and told me I was her favorite photographer, which just totally made my day! It was so fun to finally meet her little crew, and photograph their cuteness as a family 🙂 I just adore the love that pours out of these photos! 
I would say family sessions make up 85% of my work, and I just love it! I love meeting new families and seeing your children’s sweet and spunky personalities! As a momma of four myself, I have such a passion for children and family – and love using my talents to capture the beauty of family! We almost had to cancel our session due to rain, but it held out for us and I’m so glad it did! The boys did so well, and the love mom and dad have for their boys is so evident in these images.
Oh how I loved seeing this little guy again! Last time I saw Benjamin he was around 9 months, so it was fun to see him grow up a little bit – and his blonde curls and blue eyes…GAH! Such a gorgeous little boy! Our last shoot was mainly just of Benjamin so it was fun to meet his daddy this time and do some family shots for them. Benjamin did so great for photos and I just loved everything about their session. Their adorable family, the gorgeous light we had that evening….I truly feel blessed to do something I love so much…capturing these memories for your families, I do not take it for granted!
