Anyone that knows me knows I am very passionate about pregnancy, birth and babies. I’ve always wanted to shoot a birth, and when I posted on Facebook I would like to photograph a birth, I was amazed how many friends were interested. My friend Mandi reached out and it was official, I was going to photograph the birth of their little girl entering this world! I was so excited and nervous all at the same time. It was my first birth – and I didn’t want to mess it up!
I had my own little one who was nursing at the time, so I ended up having to take a few trips back and forth to the hospital when she was in labor – due to her labor suddenly stopping (haha) – but it all worked out and I was there to capture little Lucy’s arrival. It truly was one of the most amazing experiences, and I quickly knew it was something I wanted to photograph more of. Births.
Aside from your wedding day, it’s one of the most important days of your life. It should be documented. By a birth photographer. Hiring a birth photographer allows your significant other to be completely focused on his momma to be, and be a PART of the birth story, as he should be. If he was behind the lens, he would not be in the photos, and that would be a shame!
These are moments you will want to look back on forever. As a mom of four myself, looking back I think it would have been really neat to have a birth photographer capturing my babies entering this world. Laboring moms are focused on bringing a little human into the world, we aren’t really aware of all the precious moments that go on during that time and how neat to look back and be able to see them all.
KHP is now officially offering birth photography, and I’m very excited. More details can be found on my website at http://www.keriharrisonphotography.com.
Here’s a glimpse into Lucy’s arrival. Mom did amazing. Oh what a beautiful day it was!
This was my second time photographing this sweet family and they couldn’t have come dressed any cuter and more perfect for fall! I loved their outfits and absolutely adored their session. I had SO many favorites, it was hard choosing which ones to share with you all.
Mom sent me the sweetest email after receiving her photos, and it totally made my day!
“Hi Keri, finally had time to pop in the pictures and enjoy a slideshow. Can’t wait to get some printed. We are so happy with them. I am very happy that we decided to have you photograph us. It really was worth every penny!”
Repeat clients are the best compliment you can give to any photographer. Sweet emails are pretty great too:)
I absolutely love when my extended family members book me for their family photos. Holly is my husband’s cousin – and this was my first time photographing their super adorable family. They drove from an hour away to have their pictures done by me, and their session couldn’t have gone more perfect. The girls were dressed so super cute, I loved everyone’s outfits and the fun colors! I had lots of favorites from their session, enjoy!
Oh my goodness, I couldn’t have loved this newborn session anymore! Let me give you a little back story on this sweet baby girl. Her momma is a friend of mine and this was their fourth babe. She has 3 boys….and has been praying for a little girl for many years. This was going to their last baby, regardless of gender. I was going crazy waiting to find out what they were having, and when Brittany told me it was a girl – I could have cried!! She is the most beautiful baby, and has 3 adorable big brothers who love her so much, and a mommy and daddy who adore her too! It was a joy to photograph her – I wanted to keep her (as always, ha!).
So happy for you Levens family, Norielle is one blessed girl to have you both as parents, I know you are just as blessed to have a daughter.
